Hey guys! For this week's freebie blog, I'm going to talk about storytelling through music. Over the years, music has gone to a point where it has no mean, seriously. If you look back in time to like the 60's, 70's, 80's, and pretty much the whole 20th century you can see that there is a story to a song. Today, music is so complicated and electronically made, it's either we can't hear the words to know the story or there is no story at all. So if you are wondering
Hey guys! This week is the last week of blogs so this will be the one of the last blogs this year. So this week I wanted to talk about the surprises I had from this media class or what I was not expecting in this class. So the first surprise was editing on Final Cut Pro. The second surprise were the
Hey guys! There has been or was a trend about the new telescope on Mauna Kea and the negative opinions about it. People opposing it because it is a sacred temple which is very true. Well today, I was looking at the proposal, seeing what TMT is, and the protest against the project. When I was looking at protest videos, a HIKI NO news story came up. It was from
Hey guys! Summer is less than 3 weeks away and that means the year is coming to a close.
Hey guys! So over STN there is a contest for high school students called the "Convention Recap", where students produce a maximum of 2 minute video about the convention around the theme of the convention's theme, "Capture the Moment".
Hey guys! On Thursday me and Kaden's second quarter project, "Hanapepe Friday Nights" aired on HIKI NO, the nations first statewide student news network so for this week's freebie blog, I want to talk about HIKI NO. CKTV was one of the first schools on the first episode
Hey guys! Were back from STN and now it's time to get back to work. That means 4th quarter projects need to be finished in less than 2 months. For this weeks blog, I want to talk about what I learned at STN 2015 trip. One of the things I lear
Hey guys! For the past several weeks you may have seen blogs with no text or a little bit of text. Well these are not unfinished blogs, this is caused by a glitch in Weebly when you publish a blog is shows none of my text or a little bit and also over time removes text and yes I researched which took me a while. Anyway for this Spring Break I will be fixing these blogs just in time for the trip. Well that's pretty much it , thanks for your understanding.
Hey guys! A while back I started watching BuzzFeed on youtube. BuzzFeed is an internet news/media company. This media company not only writes articles but these fun films that are posted on youtube. A lot are taste test which is what I am going to talk about in this blog.
One of these taste test is a german version where americans try german food. These taste are pretty much laid out like this, two people side by side trying these foods. The reactions are very unpredictable. Some people may say that it is great some may not. Some try to keep in the pain and some burst it all out on camera which makes the film entertaining both in a funny and informational way.
All these videos also persuaded me to change my idea for my 4th quarter project. I will produce a short film of people trying, bizarre asian foods. So that's pretty much it guys! Make Sure you come back next week to read the latest and greatest. Anyway thanks for reading and I will catch you in the next one.
Hey guys! My 3rd quarter project is finished which I am such relieved. Anyway as I was making my script for editing, I saw in the transcription about a girl named Anne Frank. Which I was familiar with that name because I read her book Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl. Since my project was on creating tolerance, I wanted to put some research into it and I found this movie/mini series called the Anne Frank Story. The film explains the time when Anne Frank hid with her family from the Nazis during WWII.
I highly recommend this film if you are researching about Anne Frank or the Holocaust. The film not only shows her in hiding but what happened when she was arrested and taken to the concentration camps, showing the life in the concentration camps. I also recommend because of how descriptive the film is, From the clothes to the secret annex and also showing WWII from the eyes of a child.
Well that's pretty much it guys! I will have the film below. It is a 3 hour movie and please watch the beginning to know if the film is right for you. Anyway, thanks for reading and I will catch you in the next one.
Hey guys! 3rd quarter projects are done and are pretty soon going to be sent to Olelo. My project is not posted because the video file is slightly bigger than the maximum. So I will try to get it on Vimeo to embed it on the site or try to make the file smaller. Anyway as today is the due date for our 3rd quarter project, I want to talk about my 4th quarter project and my plans and goals.
First, I'm going to do this project on my own and I am deciding to either a news story or
Hey guys! Last week Saturday was our 2nd STN Practice. Before the practice we were told to make 3 goals you want to reach in my "Goals for STN Practice #2" blog post. The goals was to be prepared for everything. Second is to stay alert. Third is to negotiate peacefully in times of disagreement or conflict. I'm happy to say that we pretty much met all these goals mostly. Keep reading to find out more.
First goals was to be prepared. For me, that means everything is checked and in working order. In practice #1, I was not that prepared, the DXA-SLR was not turning on. So we had to troubleshoot. For this practice, everything was in working order because I checked all equipment. The one thing that I forgot and this is a biggie, the SD CARD. So that is one of the things that I have to get better at. Bringing the SD card because that's my job.
Second was to stay alert. I made this goal because when I had to follow along with Taylor and Taylynn's script for when to scroll to the next section of the script. For that problem to be resolved I actually put different sections of the script as pictures so when I have to go to the next section I can just go to the next picture. But still, I need to be alert to know when I have to go to the next picture. Which I did because it was easier to handle and I was more alert in this practice than in the first one.
Third goal was to make peaceful negotiations at times of disagreement and conflict. In the first practice, not cooperating was a major factor of us missing the deadline. There was no trust in people or at least me. From location to simple advice. Anyway this practice we negotiated and worked together as a team. So having trust in people and cooperating with each other made our team more successful in this practice.
Well that's pretty much it guys. This is my reflection on STN practice #2. I reached all my goals which is a good thing. Some things to improve is the SD card business, location, and lighting which I didn't mention earlier. Well that's pretty much it guys, make sure you come back next week to read the latest and greatest. Anyway thanks for reading and I will catch you in the next one.
Hey guys! As you know, taking pictures is just a phone away. But before phones had cameras and you actually had to get film and take the pictures. This is called an "Instant Camera" where you take a picture and develops the picture over time on a self-developing film. Over time this type of technology has vanished due to the price of the film and availabilty of the camera.
Why am I talking about this. Well over the weekend, I traveled to the Entertainment Capitol of the World, that's right Las Vegas. In Vegas there is a street called the Linq, filled with many stores. Anyway one of those stores was called the Polaroid Fotolab and Museum.
This store/museum is amazing, here you could take your personal photos and put them on a self-developing film which is pretty cool and they show how it works. On the second floor, the museum. This museum talks about the history of the instant camera technology. In my opinion, this place is like heaven if you like this kind of thing.
Well that's pretty much it guys! Make sure you look at the slideshow below so you don't need to visualize of what you have read. Anyway thanks for reading and I will catch you in the next one.
Hello, my name is Kallen and I am a seventh grader at Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School in Lihue, Kauai. This will be my first year in this media class (CKTV). I am looking forward to a great 2014-2015 school year. Well not go on and on, let me talk about myself. I was born on the island of Maui and moved to the "Garden Island' at 10 months old. During my spare time, I use my computer and fly airplanes on my flight simulator and pretend to fly around the world.
